Centennial Choirs

Since its founding in 2013, the Ankeny Centennial Choral Music Program has grown into a nationally recognized leader in vocal music education. With more than 400 students involved, our program offers opportunities for every singer to discover their voice, build community, and experience the joy that music brings.

Curricular Choirs

Ankeny Centennial is proud to offer four curricular choirs for students in grades 10-12, providing diverse opportunities for singers of all skill levels and musical interests to grow and thrive.

Concert Choir

Centennial Concert Choir is the most advanced choral ensemble at Ankeny Centennial High School. Students in this class explore advanced techniques for healthy singing and speaking, sight-reading, score marking, and expressive performance. The curriculum emphasizes musical literacy, diverse styles, and refined skills in diction, tone, and intonation. Director: Caroline Edgeton Pianist: Ellen Stoltenberg

Mixed Choir

Centennial Mixed Choir is an advanced, auditioned ensemble that brings together talented singers in a dynamic mixed-voice setting. Students in this class develop strong vocal technique, sight-reading skills, and musical literacy while exploring a wide range of styles and refining tone, diction, and intonation. Treble Clef Choir

The Centennial Treble Clef Choir is an inclusive, non-auditioned ensemble designed for students who sing treble voice parts, including sopranos and altos. Open to all regardless of prior musical experience, this choir provides opportunities to explore a wide range of vocal repertoire while building strong fundamentals in healthy singing, sight-reading, and expressive performance. Bass Clef Choir

The Centennial Bass Clef Choir is an inclusive, non-auditioned ensemble for students who sing bass clef voice parts, including tenors, baritones, and basses. Open to all regardless of prior musical experience, this choir offers opportunities to explore a diverse range of repertoire while building strong fundamentals in healthy singing, sight-reading, and expressive performance. Show Choirs

Ankeny Centennial’s show choir program is one of the largest in the nation, engaging nearly 25% of students in grades 9-12. With four high school ensembles and one middle school group, the program offers opportunities for all skill levels. Centennial choirs have earned national acclaim, winning Grand Championships and awards for choreography, vocals, band and design.

Spectrum

Spectrum is Ankeny Centennial’s premier varsity mixed show choir, featuring 60 performers, 22 instrumentalists, and 22 crew members. Known for its dynamic performances and creative vision, Spectrum brings this year’s theme, “The Beacon”, to life with passion and precision.

Vortex

Vortex is a select varsity treble ensemble consisting of 57 performers, 23 band members, and 13 student crew members. This elite group showcases artistry and precision, performing their 2026 theme, “Bess”, with power and grace.

Eternal Rush

Eternal Rush is an advanced junior varsity mixed ensemble with 66 singers, a 21-member band and a 13-member tech crew. ER is dedicated to growth and excellence, tackling the challenges of competitive show choir with passion. Their 2026 theme is “Planet ER.

Chaos

Chaos is Centennial’s junior varsity mixed show choir, featuring 64 performers and 19 band members in grades 9-12. Known for its energy and teamwork, Chaos competes in the prep division and brings this year’s theme, “Let’s Get Loud!”, to life on stage.

Ignition

Ignition is Northview’s non-auditioned middle school show choir for 8th graders. This ensemble gives students the chance to explore their musical talents and experience the excitement of show choir in a supportive environment.
